Conferences

CARL is an independent chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries. Conferences are held every 2 years.

CARLDIG South is an interest group of the California Academic & Research Libraries (CARL). We hold meetings and programs to discuss current reference issues. Learn more about us by reading our bylaws.

The California Conference on Library Instruction (CCLI) is a grassroots committee comprised of academic instruction librarians in Northern California. CCLI’s sole mission is to provide an annual one-day conference on user education in academic libraries. The committee aims to support the professional development needs of instruction librarians by keeping the conference current, relevant and affordable. CCLI selects conference locations that provide convenient access for regional Northern California attendees. Participation in the committee is open and free.

The main focus is on public libraries. The Association's Annual Conferences have occurred since 1897 and alternate between northern and southern locations.

LILi is an acronym for a group of librarians from various types of California libraries. Our mission is to investigate information literacy definitions, standards and instruction in California. The group will use the results of the investigation to craft effective models of lifelong, sequential information literacy instruction that consider previous knowledge, abilities, specific tasks and needs, evolving technology, future opportunities, and on-going collaborations among all those committed to information literacy in California.

The Southern California Instruction Librarians (SCIL) is an interest group of the California Academic and Research Libraries Association (CARL), an independent chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). SCIL hosts two professional development events each year. The goal for all SCIL events is to offer real-world, pragmatic learning opportunities.

This conference is an opportunity for individuals working in all areas of Access Services in libraries to gather information and communicate with other professionals about circulation, reserves, interlibrary loan, student worker management, security, and other topics of interest.

The Acquisitions Institute at Timberline Lodge has been providing a unique opportunity for acquisitions and collection development librarians, vendors and publishers to meet and discuss pertinent trends and issues in libraries since 2000.

ALA's Annual Conference and Exhibition is the world's biggest library event. Important updates are shared, relevant legislation and policy are addressed, and discussions take place that majorly impact libraries and their ongoing transformation. With up to 2,500 scheduled events, of which more than 500 are programs, sessions, and in-depth facilitated and informative conversations, attendees are engaged in a wide range of library, and professional development related topics.

Representing more than 10,000 academic and research librarians and interested individuals, ACRL (a division of the American Library Association) develops programs, products, and services to help academic and research librarians learn, innovate and lead within the academic community.

The conference for people who code for libraries. An annual gathering of technologists from around the world, who largely work for and with libraries, archives, and museums and have a commitment to open technologies.

Bringing libraries and information professionals together. The conference continues a long tradition of looking at emerging technologies, hearing from bleeding-edge practitioners, and sharing case studies of innovative libraries, and insights from information industry leaders and watchers.

The Core Forum is the annual conference for ALA’s newest division, Core: Leadership, Infrastructures, Futures. It brings together decision-makers and practitioners that focus on the following areas: Access & Equity, Assessment, Buildings & Operations, Leadership & Management, Metadata & Collections, Preservation, and Technology.
Core Forum program tracks and discussions are structured around these seven topics, particularly the ways in which they interact with and complement each other.

Formerly known as the Off-Campus Library Services Conference, the Distance Library Services Conference is a biennial event that has been in existence since 1982. This conference brings together librarians, administrators, and educators to discuss, demonstrate, and champion the techniques, trends, and theories of providing library services to students and faculty at a distance and in the online environment.

At the EBSCO User Group meeting for North American Academic Libraries, users of EBSCO products and services share their experiences and ideas for improvement. Attendees have the opportunity to learn about EBSCO technology solutions from one another and get updates from EBSCO. Content and feedback from the event helps guide future product features and functionality.

The goal of the ER&L Conference is to bring together information professionals from libraries and related industries to improve the way we collect, manage, maintain, and make accessible electronic resources in an ever-changing online environment.

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users. It is the global voice of the library and information profession. Our conference is held in August or early September in a different city each year.

The conference goal is to build and further a vibrant library assessment community by bringing together interested practitioners and researchers who have responsibility or interest in the broad field of library assessment.
