Library Services for Faculty

Instructions, tips and help for faculty using GWC Library resources and services.

Reserving Course Materials for Limited Use

What are 'Reserves'?

  • Reserves are textbooks and other course-related required materials with a limited checkout loan, usually two hours.
  • Current Golden West College students only may borrow them.
  • Reserve items are held behind the Public Services desk (LRC, 2nd Floor), not on the regular shelves.

How can faculty put a copy of their textbook on reserve?

Placing Your Textbook and Other Materials 'On Reserve'

Faculty and instructors may place print course materials that are expected to be in high demand or that require special security in the library's course reserve section.

Items placed on reserve allow your entire class to use key or supplemental materials needed for that class. In addition, placing items on reserve facilitates equitable access by all members of your class to these items.

Items must be copyright compliant. We, by law, cannot accept anything marked “Instructor Copy.”
